Sculpture By The Sea

Photographing Sculpture by the Sea has been an incredible opportunity to document and showcase the dedication, talent, and vision of the many artists exhibiting their work. As one of the world’s largest outdoor sculpture exhibitions, this event transforms coastal landscapes into an open-air gallery, creating a breathtaking fusion of nature and creativity.

The brief for this project was to capture “hero images", striking, high-quality visuals designed for promotional campaigns, social media, PR, official websites, merchandise, and artist portfolios. These images needed to encapsulate the sculptures in ideal lighting conditions, often during sunrise, with soft natural light enhancing the textures, details, and artistic essence of each piece.

Achieving this required meticulous planning, timing, and technical precision. I carefully scouted locations, anticipated weather conditions, and used expert composition techniques to ensure each sculpture was captured at its most visually compelling moment.

Duration:
2024,2025
Scope of works:
Photography & Videography

In 2025, I was commissioned by the Sculpture by the Sea team to film, edit, and photograph their annual Bondi exhibition. My role involved producing the official Sculpture by the Sea 2025 exhibition video, while also capturing photography throughout the event.
To help drive early engagement, I was also asked to create a “first look” video showcasing key sculptures before the exhibition opened. This was followed by a feature film highlighting the full range of works installed along the coastal walk.

All video content was delivered in both landscape and portrait formats, optimised for social media and web viewing. The final videos were delivered on time and reached over 500,000 people across multiple platforms. Balancing both videography and photography responsibilities, I managed multiple deliverables while maintaining a strong focus on quality, storytelling, and audience engagement.
During the exhibition, I was asked to assist with some product photography for "Sculptures Inside" where I needed to use create a studio setting for professional coverage of the smaller sculptures being sold during the exhibition. I was also responsible for capturing Education Workshops and Accessibility and Inclusion tours, all the additional images can see below:

Through this project, I was able to produce stunning, impactful imagery, some of which were selected for future promotions—a testament to my ability to create dynamic and engaging visual content that resonates with audiences.Whether it’s event photography, commercial campaigns, or artistic documentation, I bring the same dedication and eye for detail to every project.
